Meet Christian!

Guitar / Ukulele / Piano

Hello! My name is Christian, and I am originally from Missouri but love being in Texas now! Music has always been at the core of what I loved most growing up. I was raised in the church surrounded by musicians, and my mom was on the worship team. I played guitar, piano, and sang whenever I could.

My first introduction to playing music came when my mother began teaching me piano at the age of 9. From there, I was so eager to keep learning music that I started teaching myself other instruments, too. Some of the other excellent musicians around saw my enthusiasm and began teaching me guitar and drums. I fell in love with playing guitar as soon as I started learning it! It finally gave me an outlet to play the music I was hearing in my head. I started to take it more seriously as I entered high school and eventually began playing acoustic and electric guitar for various church worship bands in my hometown.

I am currently pursuing my bachelor’s degree in music at Nelson University and have been playing and traveling with the Nelson worship team, where I have learned and grown so much more instrumentally. I am thriving as I also study classical voice and collegiate level music theory. In the near future, I plan to study commercial voice as well and eventually be able to add voice lessons to my teaching qualifications! My real passions and goals for the future are to use my musical giftings in the context of worship ministry as well as to pass on all of the knowledge I have gained to students who are eager to learn and who love music like I do. I have taught music lessons to many students in the youth groups that I have been apart of over the years and am excited to teach here at En Route Academy now!

After I graduate from the university, I plan to continue developing as a worship leader and a music teacher. I hope I can pass on a passion for the finer details of music and the joy of playing an instrument!
